m.room.create
Every Matrix room begins life with an m.room.create event: the root of the
DAG, the one event with no prev_events. This post is that event for this
blog.
Here's to a new start
This is the N-th reboot of my online presence, albeit one that I have been without for far too long.
If my memory serves me correctly, I've had a bunch of websites spanning back some 20-odd years:
linus.uac.pt/~<my-student-id>: A website hosted on my university's server student account, mainly used for sharing my very ownThe Smashing Pumpkinsbootleg CD trading list and some open source Linux apps I made at the time. Lost forever...Cá & Lá (2003-2005): Greetings from the Wayback Machine! Just around the time blogging became a thing, I setup my first blog in Blogspot and wrote there for a couple of years, as I transitioned from a college student to a full-time professional technologist and software engineer.planetaacores.net (2005-2012): An Azorian Weblog aggregator which, at its peak, was pretty popular around my neighbourhood.defaultbreak.com (2005-2007): With the subtitle ofsetting breakpoints on my head, default: break;was a new home and a move to a self-hosted website, and it carried my blogging ambitions for a couple more years until 2007, at which point I moved out of my parents house to live at my own place and...defaultbreak.com (2007-2017): Radio silence, mostly, with a few intersperced entries, mostly written in english, and with the main focus of promoting my consulting work. Eventually convinced myself I didn't need a website anymore and let the domain expire.
The .com domain has since been nabbed but the .org was available in 2021,
when I decided to start treading the Matrix world and experiment with self-hosting
again.
As kids grow older, I expect to have some more free time going forward, so I'm jump starting this sucker and see where it leads.
What to expect
Not sure yet what can you expect from this but I want to establish an original web presence, with links to my various online presences and help spread the word on the Matrix protocol, which is something I've been devoting myself for the last few years.
But what I do know now is that the nostalgic appearance of this site is not by chance. So stay tuned!
